Coworking is the social gathering of a group of people, who are still working independently, but who share values and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with talented people in the same space.
Some Coworking spaces are set up as a business venture, while some are non-profit. Sometimes they're started because someone has some free office or desk space and wants to share it with others. Generally, coworkers tend to work in related industries, as this helps to create an environment for synergy.
The main difference between a Coworking space and a shared office, is that there is a community element to Coworking. The exchange of skills, ideas and networks are actively encouraged in Coworking spaces.
CoworkingSWS was set up on Dublin's South William Street in October 2008, following the demise of Dublin's first Coworking space, TL01 - where Eamon Leonard coworked with Eoghan McCabe & Paul Campbell. With a year of positive experiences with Coworking behind him, Eamon wanted to keep the Coworking set up going. After locating a new office space for his new company, echolibre, he decided to dedicate part of it to Coworking.
How can I be involved?
Currently all permanent spaces in CoworkingSWS are taken. However, there is space available for
Hot Desking
. So if you're a web designer, web developer, blogger, tech entrepreneur, or connected in any way to web or digital media technologies, and you need a desk, wifi or meeting area for a few hours send an email to eamon@echolibre.com. International visitors are especially welcome - if you're here for a conference / expo / barcamp please feel free to drop us a line.
Hot Desking at CoworkingSWS is free. However, there is a tip jar so if you enjoyed your time in our coworking space, please feel free to use it
